Eurozone composite PMI improves as Germany and France diverge.

Eurozone composite PMI rose to a 10-month high of 48.6 in January from 47.2 in December, with the services reading increasing to 48.6 from 47.8. While the "eurozone is showing clear signs of healing," says Markit, "growth is heavily skewed towards Germany." The contrast with France's deepening contraction "is the greatest seen since the survey began in 1998."
